Why is advocacy important?
The South Carolina constituent of the AGD is the voice of general dentists in our state. It is the only organization committed to representing exclusively the concerns and interests of general dentists. Because even a seemingly insignificant change in law or regulation can have a major impact on patient treatment and management of a dental office, it is crucial that general dentists have input regarding legislative policies that affect their profession. Dr. W. Carter Brown and Ms. Jessica Barron of South Carolina AGD and South Carolina Student AGD participated at Hill Day 2014. Read more about it here.
South Carolina Medicaid
Effective on April 1, 2014, the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) will reinstate the Adult Emergency Dental benefit. Medicaid enrolled dentists may seek reimbursement from the Fee-for-Service Healthy Connections program for emergency dental services to adults. The new adult benefit adds extractions for the relief of severe and acute pain or an infectious process in the mouth for adults age 21 and over that are eligible for Healthy Connections dental benefits.
